If you are considering just putting your job search on hold until January, then you may be making a huge mistake. Many of the “gatekeepers” (those people who guard access to the hiring manager) take their vacations, but many hiring managers are working through the holidays with much more free time on their calendars. Many job seekers put their job searches on hold during the holiday season. This could be a huge mistake according to Kathy Lansford-Powell, the leader of the Launch Pad Job Club – Central Texas largest job club with over 6,000 members. Kathy says her club typically sees about 30% more of her members hired in the last quarter than any other quarter during the year.
Companies will continue to find ways to help them screen out candidates. Pre-employment tests are widely used when the candidate submits a resume to cut down on unqualified applicants. One company in Birmingham, Alabama found a creative use of technology which saves them time screening candidates for each of their positions.
The first agreement is to be impeccable with your speech. How many times have you said something like “I’m such a dummy”, or something terribly harsh like “I hate myself” when things don’t go your way? How many times have you said something like that to another person? Ruiz says that an agreement to be impeccable with your speech will transform your life.
Finding a job takes work. We know the pain and anguish over not being employed. Quite frankly, it sucks. When we have a job we hate working. When we don’t have a job, we can’t wait to work. Finding that balance of doing “something you love” for a “company you respect” is the recipe for work you love.
